The OCOF story

In 2016, Klaras Center for Families (KCF), was awarded a Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) “System of Care” (SOC) Expansion grant allowing for the creation and expansion of services into three primary focuses:

  • School Based Mental Health

  • Transition Age Youth

  • Youth Crisis Respite services

The Our Community Our Future Board, made up of child-serving organizations, was created to provide programmatic guidance in the six-county Heart of Texas Region.  Established by System of Care principles, OCOF assisted KCF, and other youth-serving entities, in sculpting and creating programming to fill the mental health support for local schools, crisis support, and transition age youth service-gaps.

OCOF continues to evolve, finding ways to encourage and support community participation in the ongoing work of identifying and solving complex issues that impact children, youth, young adults, and their families in the Heart of Texas Region.
